Can we no longer do this unless you catch it in the news feed? Pics pop up, but only as a swatch, not with any like or comment options.

Do you mean can we make it so you can see comments/likes in the same window like it was before the update?
No… when looking at a person’s profile and viewing their pics, you cannot like them or comment on them. The only way it seems it can be done is to catch it in the news feed.
